Forget You: Stepping Into 2025 Free and Focused
As we step into a brand-new year, God is calling His people to do something powerful, intentional, and freeing: let it go.
As we crossed into 2025, I shared a simple phrase with our church family—our new favorite words are: “Forget you.”
- Forget everything that made you sad.
- Forget everything that hindered your growth.
- Forget the disappointments that drained your joy.
- Forget the wounds that made forgiving feel impossible.
- Forget the habits that kept you from loving freely.
- Forget the fears that kept you from praying first and trusting God fully.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:13:
“Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”
This year, we’re choosing to forget the things that tried to define us but didn’t destroy us. We’re forgetting what failed, what broke, what stalled us, and what kept us stuck. Not because it didn’t hurt—but because God still has more ahead than what was left behind.
“Forget you” is not denial. It’s obedience.
It’s saying, “God, I trust You more than I trust my memory.”
It’s choosing healing over holding on.
Freedom over familiarity.
Prayer over panic.
Grace over grudges.
When we forget what hindered us, we make room for what heaven wants to release: new joy, peace, discipline, direction, and hunger for God.
